SHORT ENGLISH STORY : THE VILLAGER AND THE SPECTACLES

There was once a villager who couldn’t read or write. 📚 He often saw people wearing spectacles while reading books or newspapers. He thought to himself, "If I get spectacles, I’ll be able to read just like them. I should go to town and buy a pair."

So, one day, he went to the town and entered a spectacles shop. 🕶️ He asked the shopkeeper for a pair of spectacles for reading. The shopkeeper handed him several pairs of spectacles along with a book. The villager tried on each pair, one by one, but no matter which he tried, he couldn’t read a single word.

Frustrated, he told the shopkeeper that all the spectacles were useless. The shopkeeper looked at him curiously, then noticed that the book was upside down! 📖 The shopkeeper asked, "Perhaps you don’t know how to read?"

The villager replied, "No, I don’t. But I thought if I had spectacles, I could read like everyone else. But none of these work for me!"

The shopkeeper tried hard not to laugh when he realized the villager’s misunderstanding. He gently explained, "My dear friend, spectacles help you see better, but they won’t teach you how to read or write. First, you need to learn to read, and then you’ll be able to use spectacles if you need them."
